Do elders and families endorse and accept VI-FAMILIES concept? I cannot begin to convey the positive reactions from both residents and families to this technology When a 96 year-old great grandmother gets to watch the antics of young family members in Chicago (five hours from here) as they sit down for a meal, something akin to magic happens. This same woman proclaimed herself to be unimpressed and uninterested prior to this video visit. Afterward, she just glowed and could not say enough positive things. Sue Schmidt, Administrator (former) Thank you so much for all your help. I hope that my grandma and I will be able to do it again. I am glad that she enjoyed it, we were grateful that we could see her since we don't get to see her that often. Granddaughter living in TX Connecting with Grandma in IA (and providing Grandma a tour of her home using a wireless connection and laptop) I'm always excited when we can get our residents to learn something new especially with the computer. They realize technology is not nearly as scary as they thought. Lori, Marketing Director What are the Benefits to the Care Planning Process? I want to tell you how excited I am to be able to offer interactive video conferencing to our families of nursing facility residents……Giving family members the opportunity to participate via technology has made a world of difference. Their involvement helps us plan care and activities of specific value to their loved one. And an added benefit to the family is being able to see and hear the resident so they have a more realistic view of the resident's situation. Interacting with the interdisciplinary care plan team also help the family appreciate the professionalism of the staff. Velda, Administrator What a great idea…..I want to thank you for the foresight to plan and implement this innovative aspect. I hope to participate regularly.
