VI-Families and How It Works 
 
VI-Families permits you to CONNECT with family and friends from any where, at any time.  Bring cousins from throughout the world together for video parties on Sunday evenings, gather together those college friends for a time of reminiscing, read your grandchild a bedtime story each night, or meet your sister for coffee on Wednesday evenings.    
  • Create Fun Times 
    1.) Purchase a membership.  One person needs the membership---then the member invites whoever they want to be their guests.  A basic membership connects 6 computers---with one individual or many people at a computer. 
     
    2.) Schedule a time with your family or friends for a video visit party….perhaps, you join for fun each Sunday at 8:00 PM CST or call your daughter “30 seconds” before you connect to get her opinion on which dress looks the best. 
     
     
    Begin the video visit 
    Member Easy 2-Step Process begins the video visit 
  • Log-in with your member name and password at www.vifamilies.com.  Note: Log-in button is on the bottom of each web page
  • Click-on "Allow video/audio"---you are now live on the web
    • Guest Logs-in to join the video visit---you provide your guest with your Member Name (just like giving them your telephone number) 
  • Guests log-in with your member name and their name at www.vifamilies.com.  Note: Log-in button is on bottom of each page
    • Now Member Admits Guests 
  • After a guest has logged in, the member receives a notice that there is a guest waiting
  • The member "accepts" the guest. The guest receives the message to "Allow audio/video."

    Participants at the Video Visit  
  • Three parties (computers) can broadcast video and audio simultaneously---see, talk/hear, interact.  Note: there can be many people at each computer.
  • Three additional parties (computers) can be connected---see, hear, and interact through text messaging.  Note: this permits people without cameras to still join your party ----they can see your new baby you are showing, you just can not see them.
  • Parties can “swap places" to activate their video and audio.

    Components Needed to Video Visit 
  • Any modern computer connected to the Internet
  • Camera and microphone/headset to be seen and heard.  (Remember, you can still see, hear and text message even if you do NOT have a camera and microphone.)
  • A VIFamilies membership---only 1 person needs it, all others are guests
  • Remember, NO software to download or install---so you can use any computer, any where, at any time
